But other then my comment about wanting another to be continued, and any other sentence that might have indicated that i am upset with the simpsons in anyway - let me assure you - The day they cancel the Simpsons, will be the day the last shred of my childhood will die.
I've been watching the simpsons for 20 of my 25 years on this planet. I think I might cry more for the loss of them then over all my deceased grandparents combined...(morbid - and sad - i know)

I enjoyed the episode but it would have been more interesting if they hadn't rushed the ending. Even making it a two part story. turning it into a big mystery like "Who shot Mr. Burns"
The Simpson's humor hasn't changed, the audiences has. They seems to be trying to figure out where exactly to go with the series and as a result the episodes tend to be...mixed up, complicated or dull with a few funny moments thrown in.
Maybe it's time for a hiatus and aging the characters by a year or two.

I don't watch other shows, and never got interested on any other cartoons other than the simpsons. We are not saying the Simpsons are better/worse than another show, we are saying the Simpsons is not as good as it used to be. The only "good" part of this episode was when Homer complained about the pizza when rev.Lovejoy went to his house.

Retrospect is a very good thing, with anything that has run as long as The Simpsons you're always going to have the argument that "It's not as funny as it used to be". Longevity and consistency are two of the hardest things to achieve and as the world changes satire has to change with it otherwise we'd be stuck in a music hall-esque style of parody. The thing the Simpsons and Family Guy etc do is draw from pop culture and if said culture is weak then the resulting shows will be weak.
