actually whoreforasmore the episode youre thinking of (lisa gets an A) chalmers says that that springfield was moved FROM missouri TO its current location and in later airings of this episode rather than saying northern kentucky they say southern missouri and some airings drop it all together... the simpsons springfield is simple on your tv (or in this case computer)
