I have only one issue with the episode: despite the fact that everyone could tell that the fake, German Homer wasn't quite right, everyone carried on with their lives all the time that the real Homer was on the island, and we're even led to believe that Marge actually slept with the fake, German Homer at least once (and, given how long Homer was gone for, it was probably many times more than that). Just seems a bit like sloppy writing...

I really like it that Homer was actually able to pursue his "hair-brained" impulse, and get a Pullitzer out of it! It would've been too predictable for him to be deflated early on, and, I wanted him to succeed. Being impulsive should be rewarded.
Homer really is an extraordinary guy. I just wish he would stop strangling poor Bart.
Speaking of Bart, this episode made excellent social commentary, on Homer being too preoccupied with his website to listen to Bart talk about how angry he is and how his unexpressed feelings are manifesting themselves in switchblades and suspensions. Talking about feelings freely is humanity's next evolutionary step.
