Homer is an extreme idiot which I think makes everyone feel better about themselves and you don't get annoyed watching him because he is int always trying to act cool or smart

And in real life, Frank Grimes wouldn't have knocked that flask of sulphuric acid out of Homer's hand. He'd have let him die, and, quite frankly, he would have been justified in doing so.
