South Park is very different to the Simpsons, I don't think anyone can really compare them. The newest SP episodes have unbelievably clever storylines and most of the humour is based on mocking society. What I miss most about the old Simpsons is the tiny random things that were just hilarious. Every time I saw a repeat episodes of the Simpsons, I always found a new joke that I missed before. That doesn't happen in the new episodes.

I completely agree with vang0793. If a newer episode (by new I mean roughly seasons 11 or so upwards) of the Simpsons comes on, I switch it off. Seasons 3 - 10 were classic, and even season 2 had its moments. Family guy is also going down the drain. And yes, South Park has completely changed since it first started out but I love their new stuff, its outrageous, not overly trying to be funny, and extremely clever. SP is never given enough credit for their writing, the hidden meanings and the complex story lines are always overlooked because people regard it as toilet humour. However, old school Simpsons will always be #1 in my book. My 2 cents

I guess the same could be sad for family guy at first it was like a great clip show, but as it went on, just tryed to turn into them preaching about some message that they clearly have no idea about which is even worse....simpsons 19,20 are hit and miss...but you cant realli find one that stoops down to southpark/family guy level.....
as of watching old simpsons thats just where some of the best are seasons 4,10

The Simpsons is dying out, that's why everyone is watching the old episodes now, cause the new episodes of the Simpsons are getting dull and boring. It's the Simpsons sad attempt to compete with Family Guy and be more like Family Guy, hence you see more adult themes in the newer episodes of the Simpsons now. Family Guy is getting boring quick because Seth McFarlane has gotten too greedy on making too many shows that are just variations of Family Guy. Just look at American Dad, I've never even saw one episode cause it's a ripoff of Family Guy. They're even talking about making The Cleveland Show, which is going to be a disaster. Due to all these side variations of the show, Family Guy itself is lacking in amusing content now, it's just based highly on pop culture references now, and not like the old episodes where the side references were funny because they adhere to a story. But anyways, the Simpsons better than South Park in today's standards....NO WAY. But in the past, I'd agree, but 2000 and up South Park is winning the battle.
